Site History

LocalKiteSpots.com was developed by Bill Walseth, and his company WCG:ITX, based on Markham, Ontario. The site was orginally concieved in Fall of 2006 as a cross between two popular kiting sites, one that displayed beach information, and a second that displayed wind information. By combining the concepts of the two sites, and by making the site open for anyone to contribute, we've created a community mapping forum, with world-class weather data.

From our intial beginning of 1 map of Ontario, with 25 spots and no weather information, we now host 93 maps, over 1,500 spots, 5,000 videos, and weather forecasts around the world.

We added YouTube video to enhance our members content. Our proprietery YouTube search engine locates videos related to our kiting maps, and spots.
