Take lessons from a Certified Instructor at this spot, there are several to choose from. You can learn location etiquette and how to kite at the same time with local knowledge. Once you do kite on your own after lessons, always have a knowledgeable kiter launch and land your kite at least 40m out on the water and do a self rescue 40m out if there is no one to land your kite.
The most popular launch site in Keswick, for kite surfing, this spot is best for SW-W-NW.
A little gusty on N more so on NE. No kiting in E-S-SE, they are very dirty here.
As this spot becomes more crowded, many riders are heading N. just N. of Crates marina, and to Jackson's Point.
Water: Colder than Lake Ontario / Huron early and late in the season. Warmer in summer months
Launch: This spot has a very small grassy launch, many kites have been stuck in the killer Willow tree. Recommend an assisted launch, or a drift launch. Typically more gusty near shore.
Ride: Confident riders will not want to miss the flat water conditions at the far south end of the lake. Beware, falls in the weeds are difficult to recover from.
Parking / Access: Easy parking, set-up right by the parking area. Be courteous to others here, it's a very crowded spot (30 riders on busy days). Local police have been know to give parking tickets to those parked near the intersection, or those parked there for a long time (2 hours).
